There are many options when it comes to catering. It can be confusing. You will find catering companies and restaurants that provide similar services, but how do you decide which is right for you?
If you haven’t yet decided, we have a few tips when it comes to what to consider…
YOU’RE MY ONE AND ONLY
Because catering companies do not have to worry about running a restaurant, they are able to give your event their undivided attention. Caterers have special equipment and a trained catering staff so everything runs smoothly. Catering companies have chafing dishes, assorted serving platters, and nice service utensils. Restaurants can provide outstanding food but are often limited with regard to equipment and staffing. Be sure to take this into consideration.
DON’T SPOIL YOUR PARTY
A huge advantage of catering companies is their understanding of what food works and doesn’t work in a catering station. They will create a menu that will work well in chafing dishes (Sterno-heated serving trays) and can help you decide the best food to select for a buffet or plated menus. They will select foods that won’t dry out or look messy on the buffet line. If it’s a self-serve buffet, food needs to be easy for guests to serve themselves. (Leave the meat carving station to the pros.)
DECK THE TABLES
Table linens can be a much-larger-than-expected expense for your wedding, especially when your venue does not provide them. One way to cut this cost is by renting them from your caterer (if they are available). They can typically offer basic linens at almost half the rental company’s price, which can save you hundreds of dollars—and you don’t have to worry about returning them.
